SEG projects Earn SE² Award
Sustainable Engineering Group's 2011 Sustainable Energy Efficiency (SE²) submission for Sun Prairie School District's Creekside Elementary School was selected for an "Award of Merit". SEG provided feasibility and design services of the geothermal system for the project. SEG also provided services to four other SE² 2011 awarded projects including WPPI Office Building (Commissioning), Lake Mills Middle School (Commissioning, Energy Modeling, Geothermal Design and Measurement & Verification), Miron Office Building (Geothermal Design), and Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery (Focus on Energy Consulting and Energy Modeling). SEG will provide Commissioning, LEED Consulting and Energy Modeling services to Madison's new Wingra Clinic and medical offices that will replace the Bancroft Dairy building as part of the revitalization project for the Bay Creek neighborhood.

Sustainable Engineering Group was hired to provide Net Zero Energy and QA-QC services for the Outagamie County Regional Airport General Aviation Building and Hangars. The project will include geothermal heating and cooling, high performance building envelop and lighting and a large solar PV system.

SEG will speak at the National Conference on Building Commissioning
SEG Staff will present on the topics of Considerations for Building Controls and Commissioning Geothermal Systems. The conference will take place in Cincinnati, Ohio August 10th-12th.

Sustainable Engineering Group to provide energy efficiency services for two new buildings at Fort McCoy - the NCO Academy (Commissioning and Energy Modeling) and Annual Training Mobilization Barracks (Commissioning).

SEG Staff have been busy increasing their qualifications to be able to better serve clients:
Svein Morner , Principal, earned the Commissioning Process Management Professional (CPMP) certification. Manus McDevitt, Principal, is now a certified High Performance Building (Design) Professional (HPDP). Both are through the ASHRAE certification program. Natalia Camblor, Engineer, gained the title of Certified Energy Manager (CEM) by passing the certification program through the AEE. Kenneth Von Bank, Project Engineer, is now a Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP) through the BCA. Kay Nachreiner, Office Manager, is a certified LEED Green Associate through the USGBC certification program.

SEG projects Earns SE² Award
Sustainable Engineering Group's 2010 Sustainable Energy Efficiency (SE²) submission for School District of Fort Atkinson was selected for an "Award of Merit". SEG provided retro-commissioning of the geothermal system and energy efficiency consulting services for the project.
The SE² Award program recognizes leadership in energy efficient and sustainable design, construction and operation of Wisconsin commercial and other non-residential buildings and related systems. The other two top SE² 2010 awarded projects, SEG also provided services to Madison Fire Station 12 (Commissioning) and Holy Wisdom Monastery (Geothermal Design).

SEG will speak at ASHRAE 2011 Winter Conference
SEG Principal Manus McDevitt will present on the topic of Design, Commissioning and Verification Considerations for Net-Zero Energy Buildings. The conference will take place in Las Vegas Nevada January 29th-February 2nd.

SEG Net Zero Project
SEG was awarded the contract to provide Net Zero Energy Modeling and Commissioning services for US Army Corp of Engineers' Boarder Patrol Station located in Fabens, Texas.

SEG Client School District recognized by Federal and State officials for earning Energy Star certification for 2 of its schools. Nationally, the elementary schools are in the top 25% for their energy efficiency.

SEG helps School Project aim for LEED Gold
SEG provided geothermal design, LEED energy modeling, LEED measurement and verification, and commissioning services for the Lake Mills Middle School Project that is targeting LEED Gold certification. If achieved, it could be the first renovated school in the Midwest to earn the rating.

November 2009
SEG client, Tanesay Development received a US DOE grant to install a geothermal exchange system for River Heath, located in Appleton, WI. It is one of three commercial real estate projects to receive a DOE grant and the only one using water-based heat exchange plates. The system will demonstrate river-based heat exchange plates that use flowing water to provide high heat transfer. SEG performed the feasibility study and will design the geothermal system.

May 2009 – SEG Helps Client Earn Energy Star Rating
Sustainable Engineering Group was involved in the provided commissioning of the energy systems for the Erdman Headquarters LEED Gold certified building. The commissioning effort was instrumental in achieving the Energy Star Rating.
April 2009 - SEG Commissioning Project Chosen for Green Building of America Award
The Paul J. Olson Elementary School project will receive a 2009 Green Building of America Award. Sustainable Engineering Group is the Commissioning Agent for this Madison Wisconsin school that is aiming for LEED Silver. The award is presented by Construction Communications.
December 2008 – SEG to perform Retro-Commissioning services to 4 Midwest Indian School Campuses.
Sustainable Engineering Group is working to meet the goals to reduce energy usage and to introduce renewable energy sources to meet the Bureau of Indian Affairs requirement that 2-3% energy come from renewable energy sources in these 4 Indian school campus' located in Midwestern states.
August 2008 - SEG Helps Schools Reach Challange
Wisconsin’s Lieutenant Governor Lawton has challenged Wisconsin schools with the goal of having at least 100 schools reduce their energy usage by 10%. SEG is working with multiple school districts to reduce their energy use to meet this challenge.

March 2008 - SEG AWARDED UW Hillel contract
Sustainable Engineering Group has been awarded the contract to provide LEED commissioning services to the Barbara Hochberg Center for Jewish Student Life, UW Hillel on the University of Wisconsin Madison Campus.
